  12. At the  time  of  their   greatest   success,   this   American  rock  band
  13. consisted of Phil Ehart,  Dave  Hope,  Kerry  Livgren,  Robbie  Steinhardt,
  14. Steve Walsh and Rich Williams.   Incommon  with  another place named  group
  15. 'Boston', 'Kansas' were one of a wave of unchallenging US  rock  bands  who
  16. arrived on American FM airwaves  during  the  mid  to late Seventies. While
  17. Britian was experiencing the  upheavels   of  the New Wave/Punk  explosion,
  18. America  was  serving  up a  carefully   crafted  genre that  combined  old
  19. wave rock   instrumentation   and   rhythym    with    pop   harmonies  and
  20. melodies.  Acts like  'Foreigner',   'Styx'  and  'Journey'  fell into this
  21. category also.

  23. Kansas were formed  in  1972  and  released  their eponymouse debut  LP  in
  24. 1974.  The   Album     that    brought    them     major   prominence   was
  25. 'Leftoverture', which reached  No.5   in   the    US    Charts   in   April
  26. 1977;  it  was boosted by  its  dynamic  opening track  'Carry  On  Wayward
  27. Son'  which climbed to No.11 on the  singles list.  The next album   'Point
  28. of  no  Return'  was  another US top 10 item,  the   band's   biggest   and
  29. finest   single,   the   million  selling melancholy, philosophising ballad
  30. 'Dust  in  the  Wind'.   During the  Eighties Kansas' career went through a
  31. long  period  of  stagnation and after  a break-up were seen to re-assemble
  32. with a new producer and were planning a new album.

  34. Anyway, I hope you enjoy  this  simple  rendition  of  Kansas' 'Dust in the
  35. Wind', I particularly like this song because  the  Kansas  vocalist,  Steve
  36. Walsh has an amazing  voice,  which  when  singing   'Dust   in  the  Wind'
  37. communicates as simply wonderful!  Lot of soul man!
